Library Description

The library covers all the necessary functions to control the Solar Energy Click board. Library performs the communication with the device via GPIO AN, INT, and CS pins. The library has charge enable/disable function and battery good indicator functions.

Key functions:

  • void solarenergy_chargeEnable() - Charge enable functions.
  • void solarenergy_chargeDisable() - Charge disable functions.
  • uint8_t solarenergy_checkIndicator() - Battery good indicator functions.

Examples description

The application is composed of three sections:

  • System Initialization - Initializes GPIO and LOG structures, sets AN and INT pins as input and set CS pin as an output.
  • Application Initialization -  Initialization driver enables - GPIO and start to write log.
  • Application Task - (code snippet) This is an example which demonstrates the use of Solar Energy Click board. The following example will charge the battery if it is empty, and stop charging when the battery is full. When the battery full status is detected, the device is disabled but will check battery status every 10 seconds. Results are being sent to the Usart Terminal where you can track their changes.
void applicationTask()
{
    if ( solarenergy_checkIndicator() )
    {
        solarenergy_chargeDisable();
        Delay_ms ( 10000 );
    }
    else
    {
        solarenergy_chargeEnable();
    }
}

Other mikroE Libraries used in the example:

  • GPIO
  • UART

Additional notes and informations

Depending on the development board you are using, you may need USB UART clickUSB UART 2 click or RS232 click to connect to your PC, for development systems with no UART to USB interface available on the board. The terminal available in all MikroElektronika compilers, or any other terminal application of your choice, can be used to read the message
