Library Description

The library covers all the necessary functions to control Thermostat Click board. Library performs the communication with the device via I2C driver by writting to registers and by reading from registers. Library have generic write and read function, function for set configuration,  temperature hysterezis and referent temperature, function for get temperature value, etc. Function who gets temperature also converts temperature data to degree Celsius [ °C ] and  Fahrenheit [ °F ].

Key functions:

  • float thermostat_getTemperature() - Get temperature in degrees Celsius function.
  • void thermostat_setConfiguration( uint16_t configValue ) - Set configuration function.
  • void thermostat_setTempHyst( int8_t tempHyst ) - Set temperature hysterezis function.

Examples description

The application is composed of the three sections :

  • System Initialization - Initializes GPIO, I2C and LOG structures and set CS and RST pins as output.
  • Application Initialization - Initialization driver enable's - I2C, soft reset sesnor, set default configuration and start write log.
  • Application Task - (code snippet) This is a example which demonstrates the use of Thermostat Click board. Thermostat Click measures the temperature value from sensor in degrees Celsius [ °C ] and set on thermal switch when the temperature is within the defined limits. Results are being sent to the USART Terminal where you can track their changes.
    All data logs on usb uart for aproximetly every 2 sec.
void applicationTask()
{
    temperature = thermostat_getTemperature();
    FloatToStr( temperature, logText );

    mikrobus_logWrite( " Temperature : ", _LOG_TEXT );
    mikrobus_logWrite( logText, _LOG_TEXT );
    mikrobus_logWrite( " °C", _LOG_LINE );

    if ( ( temperature < limitMax ) && ( temperature > limitMin ) )
    {
        thermostat_switchOn();
    }
    else
    {
        thermostat_switchOff();
    }

    mikrobus_logWrite( "----------------------", _LOG_LINE );
    Delay_ms( 2000 );
}

Additional notes and information

Depending on the development board you are using, you may need USB UART clickUSB UART 2 click or RS232 click to connect to your PC, for development systems with no UART to USB interface available on the board. The terminal available in all MikroElektronika compilers, or any other terminal application of your choice, can be used to read the message.

DIGI Isolator click

0

DIGI Isolator Click is a compact add-on board that provides electrical isolation and signal conditioning for the serial peripheral interface and a UART interface. This board features two DCL540C01, high-speed, quad-channel digital isolators from Toshiba Semiconductor. Depending on the usage, this CMOS isolator can achieve data rates of up to 150Mbps, while withstanding up to 5kVrms voltage. DIGI Isolator Click is designed to isolate two additional IO pins besides SPI and UART interfaces.
