Project Blog

This project is for the design of a tortoise incubator temperature controller. The temperature is regulated by an external heat lamp, which is controlled to maintain the temperature to within a specific range. Temperature is measured using a commonly available LM35 temperature sensor. The controller allows the user to preset the operating temperature range, and alarm set points. PLEASE NOTE In the bill of materials it is shown that the lamp output kettle socket is male. This is incorrect and should be a female. The mains inlet should also be male not female.

LM35 Sensor Card

This card interfaces with the LM35 sensor. On board is an operational amplifier 5 stage low pass filter (Fc = 6 Hz) (to remove noise, mains interference and variations from the sensor) and a 12 bit SPI controlled ADC (MCP3201).
