A PIC based Heart Rate Monitor that displays the heart rate of a person in beats per minute (BPM) on an LCD. The pulse sensor used may be strapped to a finger or clipped to the earlobe. https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11574

Multiplexed USART (Microcontrollers with only one USART)
